Section 54
Condition of invalidation of ballot paper
: The ballot paper shall be invalidated in any of the following cases:-
(a) not having the signature of the polling officer concerned,
(b) Vote is indicated by putting a finger print or by putting a mark or seal other than the seal or mark as per sub-section (3) of section 37,
(c) defaced or torn so as not to understand the voting symbol,
(d) Votes are marked elsewhere without being marked in the room where the election symbol of the candidate is,
(e) separate votes are marked in a room with election marks for more than the number of candidates to be elected,
(f) in a room where there is an election mark of more than one candidate, the vote is marked in such a way that the mark of the vote is there,
(g) Votes returned to the polling officer without being marked,
(h) vote not being indicated on the election symbol of any candidate,
(i) Voted by a ballot other than that prescribed by the Commission,
(j) placed outside the ballot box,
(k) Forged ballot papers, or
(l) Ballot papers determined to be void by the Commission.
